What is included in a charter?

All charters include complimentary drinks (beer, sodas, and water), use of water toys on board, and crew service throughout. Full day charters include a lunch stop ashore. What's included in your specific package will be confirmed in your booking details.

Is the boat private? Will I be sharing with other guests?

Yes, every Shore to Shore charter is fully private. You are not sharing the boat with strangers. The vessel and crew are yours for the duration of the charter.

How many people can the boat accommodate?

Up to 8 passengers on our Jefferson Marlago Center Console and up to 10 passengers on our Intrepid center console.

Where do we depart from?

Our main departure point is HR Penn Marina in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. We can also arrange pickup from any location in the BVI with a dock, confirm your preferred pickup point when booking. Exact departure time is confirmed at booking. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before departure.

For guests joining from the US Virgin Islands, pickup is available from Red Hook, St. Thomas and Cruz Bay, St. John. A specific dock location will be confirmed when you book.

What should we bring?

Sunscreen, swimwear, a change of clothes, and anything you want to eat beyond the included provisions. We provide drinks throughout. A camera. Comfortable shoes or sandals you don't mind getting wet.

Where in the Virgin Islands is Shore to Shore located?

Shore to Shore is based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI),  specifically in Road Town, Tortola. The British Virgin Islands are a separate territory from the US Virgin Islands (USVI). They are neighbouring island groups with different governments, customs, and entry requirements. If you are flying into St. Thomas in the USVI, you will need to travel across to the BVI to join your charter, and we can arrange that pickup for you (see below).

How do I pay? Is a deposit required?

A 40% deposit is required to secure your booking. You have 10 business days from the date of booking to make the deposit payment. If you are booking within 14 days of your travel date, the deposit is due immediately. Bookings cannot be held without a deposit.

Payment can be made via our online booking portal, over the phone, or in person. You will receive a confirmation email once your deposit is processed.

The remaining balance is due before or on the day of your charter.

Where can I read reviews?

We are listed on TripAdvisor with a 5.0 rating. You can read all guest reviews at TRIPADVISOR LINK. We're proud of every one of them.

Can I book directly instead of through TripAdvisor?

Yes, and we encourage it. Booking directly through Shore to Shore means you're in direct contact with the owner and crew from the moment you confirm. You can reach us via the booking button on this site, WhatsApp, or email.

How far in advance should I book?

Our guests typically book up to 3 months in advance, especially for peak season travel (November through April). That said, you can book as little as 3 days before your trip as long as the date is available. Contact us to check current availability.

What if the weather is bad on my charter day?

Guest safety is our first priority. If conditions are unsafe, we will contact you to reschedule. We monitor conditions closely and will always give you as much notice as possible. Our captains have extensive knowledge of BVI weather patterns and will make the safest call for your group.

Can I customise the itinerary?

Yes. While we offer set packages with proven routes, we can build a custom itinerary around your priorities. Tell us what you want to see and we'll advise on what's realistic given your time and conditions that day.

Are children allowed on charters?

Yes. We are experienced with families and take the safety of all passengers, including children, seriously. All vessels are equipped with appropriate safety equipment and all captains hold commercial certifications with the BVI Maritime Authority. Let us know the ages of children in your group when booking so we can prepare accordingly.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of guests?

There is no minimum group size — we have taken out solo travellers and couples just as happily as full groups. What stays the same regardless of group size is the charter price. You are booking a private boat, not a per-person rate, so the full charter price applies whether you are one guest or eight. Contact us for pricing details before you book.

Can you pick us up in the US Virgin Islands?

Yes. Shore to Shore can arrange pickup from St. Thomas and St. John in the USVI, bring you across to the British Virgin Islands for your charter, and return you to your USVI departure point at the end of the day.

There are a few important things to know before booking this option:

  • All guests travelling between the USVI and BVI require a valid passport or a US passport card.
  • Customs and immigration clearance at the BVI port of entry is required on arrival. Wait times are unpredictable and can fluctuate significantly depending on the day. This will reduce the time available for your charter, and the impact cannot be estimated in advance.
  • We strongly recommend factoring clearance time into your expectations when planning the day.

If you are departing from the USVI, contact us directly to discuss your itinerary before booking so we can give you an honest picture of timing.

Do you handle customs and immigration for travel between BVI and USVI?

Yes. When travelling between the BVI and USVI on a Shore to Shore transfer, we handle the customs and immigration process on your behalf. You remain on the boat while we manage the paperwork. However, wait times at the port of entry are outside our control and can vary considerably.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, please notify us in writing via email or text message as early as possible.

  • Cancellations made 6 or more business days before your charter date will receive a refund minus a 15% administrative fee.
  • Cancellations made within 5 business days or fewer of your charter date will forfeit the 40% deposit. No refund will be issued.
  • If Shore to Shore cancels your booking due to bad weather or a mechanical issue, you will receive a full refund. You may also choose to transfer your deposit to a future booking instead.
  • Transfer requests made within 5 business days of your charter date are considered on a case-by-case basis.

If you have questions about your specific situation, contact us at 284-340-1526.

Can you arrange inter-island transfers within the BVI?

Yes. In addition to BVI-USVI water taxi transfers, Shore to Shore runs private inter-island transfers within the British Virgin Islands, including evening dinner runs to island restaurants across the BVI. If you want dinner at Cooper Island Beach Club, an evening at Saba Rock, or a meal on Jost Van Dyke, we can get you there and bring you back at a time that works around your reservation. No ferry schedule. No shared boat. Contact us to arrange timing and pricing.
